Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions Brings the 2099 Universe to Your Console

Activision have announced the third universe to feature in the next installment of the Spider-Man video game franchise, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, the universe of Spider-Man 2099. Along with The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Noir and an as-yet-unnamed fourth Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099 will feature in the dimension-spanning game, which centers around a mythical tablet which has been “shattered and sent hurtling across parallel universes”. The game is penned by Amazing Spider-Man scribe Dan Slott (whom I strongly dislike, but this is no place to editorialise), and this latest trailer focuses on the dystopian Spider-Man 2099. New Vanquish Gameplay Trailer Is Awesome, Japanese

Shinji Mikami created Resident Evil. His company, Platinum Games, successor to the legendary Clover Studio, made last year’s critically acclaimed Bayonetta. His new game,Vanquish, is a third person shooter involving aliens and space marines and a stylized presentation that could only come from the land of the rising sun.

If Vanquish manages to even come close to the sum of it’s parts, it could very well be the surprise hit of 2010. Above is the first gameplay trailer. It kind of looks like Gears of War meets Halo, by way of Japan. I, for one, am very excited about this game.

5 Things for Arkham Asylum Sequel
Batman Arkham Asylum surprised everyone in actually being a deep and detailed comic book game that very much captured a sense of Batman but in its own unique vision. I just finished the game last night and am working through the Riddler Challenges and I agree, kudos to you Rocksteady and Eidos. Still as great a Batman game this is, a few minor faults hamper certain points of the game and some fine-tuning and new features could add even more POW! to the next Arkham entry. In no particular order, here are 5 things I’d like to see…

REVIEW: Borderlands by Clive

Borderlands (2009)Platform: PS3, Xbox360, PCDeveloper: Gearbox SoftwarePublisher: 2K Games
Borderlands is centered around a mercenary (or group of mercenaries) in a strange and baron planet called Pandora inhabited by nut job rednecks and wasteland. Oh and enormous insects, spiders, crab worm larvae, and dogs that love attacking your gonads. The entire plot is pretty sparse: you are on a journey to find an alien treasure, which turns out to be not what you expect. The plot is really just there to push the gameplay along more than anything, this isn’t a game designed around plot; this is a game designed around progress. The story is simply there to push you along the missions, or perhaps vice versa. You’re guided on your journey by an annoying robot named Claptrap who I’m pretty sure is based entirely on Invader Zim’s G.I.R. and the humour throughout the game is actually quite similar, in a good way. Killzone 3d?
Details revealed in the latest issue of Gamepro magazine seem to officially announce Killzone 3 for the Playstation 3 and provide the first details on the game. Most interestingly, the magazine suggests that the game will be fully playable in 3D. Though you will require a 3D-capable TV and 3D glasses, the mode promises to create a “game-changing” experience. Fans that aren’t interested should know that the mode is optional but it is definitely expected, as they’ve recently released the 3D firmware update to the PS3 and Killzone is one of Sony’s flagship series. Review - God of War Collection
God of War and its sequel, released for the Playstation 2 in 2005 and 2007 respectively, were two of the most well received action adventure games ever released. Their deep combat coupled with the cleverly-designed puzzles made for some of the best fun that the PS2 had to offer. In the lead-up to the release of God of War III, Sony released a package of the first two games for the Playstation 3 called The God of War Collection, featuring God of War andGod of War II re-mastered in high definition, with an improved frame rate, trophy support for both games and the demo for God of War III. All of this and for a reduced price.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Reveal Trailer!

Following the cryptic Black Ops teaser comes this awesome new trailer filled with gameplay footage and cut scenes to bring any COD fan to wargasm. Treyarch have definitely stepped it up in terms of visuals since World At War and have created a really sweet looking game that we’re positive will be one of the biggest releases of the year.

5 Core Final Fantasy Features that Final Fantasy XIII is Missing
As a Final Fantasy nut, a numbered Final Fantasy game of this console generation was obviously huge news. Final Fantasy XIII (SquareEnix, 2010) was enormously anticipated for me and I’m sure a myriad of other gamers. I’d go as far as saying it was my most anticipated game for the PS3, and I even got it at 12:10AM at a midnight launch (Australia also received the game before most countries including the US, funnily enough).  I played through the entire story in about a week, and I actually really enjoyed it, and as a game, it really was very good. There are a few key things however, that Square decided to do differently this time around, that they really really didn’t have to. I mean, there’s no better use for the saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.  Things that are staples of the Final Fantasy series, things that I love so much about the series, that they blindly changed that greatly hurt what could have been another Final Fantasy classic. Here are those 5 things, neatly laid out for you.
