Road to R18+ in Australia
So currently the Australian Law Reform Committee (ALRC) is pitching to all nine territory, federal, and state censorship ministers to vote upon the introduction on R18+ classification on video games in Australia at the Standing Committee of Attorney-Generals (SCAG) meeting. Read more…
UPDATE: “We can move forward to introduce R18+ now.” says Brendan O’Connor (Australian Federal Minister for Home Affairs)
What’s even better is that R18+ is ready to move forward at a national (federal) level, and possibly allowing New South Wales possibly to do what it wants. This may be a history moment for gaming in Australia!

Psst.. you hear?
Gametraders is importing EU versions of Ocarina of Time, selling them a week earlier than the official AU release date.
In saying that, time really isn’t an object to Link anyway.

PS3’s Australian Video Delivery Service goes Live Thursday!
Earlier today, Sony Australia had a big press conference announcing PSN’s Video Delivery service finally coming to Australia. Following its arrival in the UK in November and the US since forever, we’re finally getting it this Thursday (1AM to be precise). The video service will show up in the cross-media bar in 2 ways, once under the ‘Video’ tab and again in the PSN tab. The download service will allow you to hire, or buy, and on launch day there will be 600 titles to watch including Inglorious Basterds, Up in the Air, and Avatar just to name a few. Costs of course vary, but videos were roughly $3.99 to hire, and $16-$20 to buy. Some of the videos were available in both standard definition and high definition. The way the rent service works is: you pay, and you have 14 days to watch the movie. When you start the movie, you have 48 hours to watch it, but in those 48 hours you can watch it as many times as you want.
